Pat and his wife, Sherry, have two children: Anna, a recent graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, and Zeb, a third-year law student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who earned his B.A. from Duke University.

Pat is a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton.
