As Mayor Pat Smathers has traveled across North Carolina, he's heard the same refrain from citizens everywhere frustrated by the concentration of power in Raleigh: Pat's ideas just make sense. Now one of the state's most talented musicians has lent his voice to the chorus.

Grammy-winner David Holt will provide the entertainment for Pat's Campaign Kickoff Gala on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Ticket-holders will also enjoy a menu inspired by Pat's achievments; beer, wine and champagne will also be served. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. at On Broadway, 49 Broadway Ave., Asheville.
